Empower Yourself Today!

Empower Yourself Today!

I often encounter clients who express feelings of not being good enough. Not good enough for others, good enough for their careers, or good enough to be loved. These are thoughts and feelings accumulated over time, and they usually stem from past experiences that have impacted them negatively. These may be hurtful statements from people, personal mistakes, and failures that eventually lead to disempowerment.

How do you know if you’re harbouring feelings of disempowerment?

Aside from the one mentioned above, being disempowered ultimately means having low self-esteem and feeling like you have no control over your life.

We all want to be heard, seen, and accepted for who we are. But, for that to happen, the first step is to begin with yourself. Our mindset can significantly impact our lives; changing our negative inner self talk to more positive language is a simple and powerful way to empower yourself.

I want to share what empowerment feels like and the simple ways you can create the best version of yourself!

What is Empowerment?

Empowerment is cultivating your self-worth and a sense that you are more than good enough. If you have found yourself saying things like, “I am intelligent, I am resilient, I am strong,” you are demonstrating an empowered mindset!! You’re confident that you can achieve your goals and you can be successful in your endeavours. Furthermore, empowerment also entails freedom.  Empowerment gives you the freedom to express your authentic self without being shackled by self-doubt or the opinions of others.  It allows you to put your goals and intentions into action.

An empowered person can confidently show their strengths in various situations and actively pursue what they want. However, I would also like to say that empowerment and entitlement should not be confused. The former is achieved through hard work and dedication, while the latter stays idle, believing that good things should automatically come their way.

Empowerment is living your truth and manifesting that energy from within into all aspects of your life.

Empowerment is Essential

Why is there a need for empowerment?

A stagnant and unfulfilled life cultivates powerlessness and a victim mindset. When we feel disempowered or fear failure, we don't see our options or chances for success, and opportunities do not seem to present themselves. On the other hand, having a motivated and empowered mind will ensure that you constantly seek ways to improve yourself and have a  happy and fulfilling life.

Better health and self-image

When you’re thinking positively about yourself, it manifests in both your physical and mental well-being. You also prioritize the needs of your mind and body, making you less susceptible to illness or diseases. In addition, you’re noticeably more comfortable in your own skin as you have already embraced all parts of yourself, including your past and your weaknesses.

Deeper and Healthier Relationships

Your empowered self is not only about what’s within but also about the relationships you cherish and foster. Empowerment is being able to cultivate healthy relationships with others without constantly seeking validation. The energy you radiate when you are feeling empowered is positive and has an uplifting impact on those around you, instead of leaving them feeling drained. The choices you make are all to empower yourself and the people around you. Like ripples on water, your positivity will surely spread to your loved ones and even your colleagues at work!

Achieve personal and career goals

A confident person who has a vision in mind can be easily distinguished. They are the ones who are aligned with their wants and have planned out the necessary steps they should take to achieve those wants. These wants may pertain to something personal like a dream house or a new skill. However, they may also be career-oriented, for example, completing a project or getting promoted.

Identifying these wants and taking action to pursue them is possible when you’re empowered because you trust yourself and your abilities. You’re also more likely to be productive as more opportunities come your way.

Empower yourself today!

When is the best time to begin?

The answer will always be NOW! Since you now know what empowerment is and how it can allow you to live authentically, let’s explore how you can start your transformational journey!

Be mindful of your body language.

Your posture and overall body language can show whether you’re an empowered or disempowered individual. For example, if your chin is up, your back is straight, your eyes are looking forward, and you have a confident smile on your face, that’s a sign of empowerment.

Meanwhile, a disempowered body shows shoulders stooped low, the face and eyes are down, and certain habits like constantly fidgeting with one’s fingers.

How you carry yourself outside is an excellent start towards empowerment. For example, a good posture creates an air of grace and confidence! You can practice by standing in front of the mirror regularly and building self-awareness so you can quickly build the habit.

Encourage positive self-talk

What thoughts do you usually entertain? When faced with difficulties or obstacles, what is the first thing that comes into your mind? How do you see yourself from the outside? In empowering the self, we must remember that we are our own cheerleaders too! Believing that you’re capable of great ideas and accomplishing different things will motivate you in many ways. Statements like, “My opinions are valuable,” “I’m worth loving,” “I can make positive contributions” can help you manifest the reality you want to happen in your life.

Release any thoughts that identify you as powerless and a victim and embrace instead the ones that will allow you to emerge as a winner.

Practise Self-Care

Aside from how you carry and talk to yourself, taking care of your appearance and well-being is also crucial. By appearance, I mean putting great thought into how you dress and identifying what clothes or statement pieces make you feel motivated to stay productive during the day. For example, the bright-coloured top you recently bought makes you feel good about yourself and invokes a sense of empowerment.

Empowerment is not all about hustling but also about taking care of yourself too! What you eat, staying physically active and getting adequate rest and sleep are also essential since these aspects show that you value yourself. When both your mind and body are healthy, you’ll be able to go through each day with enough energy to do the things you love and contribute to something you believe in.

Embrace your talents, skills, and gifts

You are a unique existence in this world. You are blessed with your own set of talents and skills that distinguish you from others. They are a special part of you, and they help you form a better image. Embrace and use these gifts to inspire and ignite something in other people. Instead of keeping them hidden, share your talents to make a difference.

Don’t let the words “show off” or sarcastic remarks from people discourage you from the majority who will benefit from your capabilities. Instead, allow your light to shine.

Acknowledge your fears and change your mindset

Negative thoughts and fears are obstacles to attaining the empowered self. Everyone has their fears, but when you allow those fears to rob you from taking an opportunity or paralyze you from taking action, that is a moment of disempowerment. Take hold of your power by acknowledging and finding the courage to face your fears. Start taking small steps out of your comfort zone. Keep things at your own pace.

Aside from facing your fears, make the shift towards practising a growth mindset. This mindset means that you’re open to the process of learning something new. Strengthen your curiosity by actively seeking the answers to the many questions you have. Treat every day as an opportunity for personal growth, and you’ll find yourself readily taking on any challenge that may come your way.

Surround yourself with empowering people

Words are powerful tools. They can either be used to wound or heal, to discourage or encourage. I have explained how your self-talk can empower you. But let’s not forget the people with who we hold relationships, no matter the degree. Do the people around you tend to say encouraging words, or is it the other way around? Take the time to reflect and remember.

Our words and actions can influence others, and theirs can affect us as well. When you surround yourself with people who often focus on the negatives and their words are often hurtful, judging, and vindictive, the possibility is that your subconscious may absorb these and ultimately disempower you. I’ve had my share of hurtful words growing up too. However, once I’ve changed my attitude and mindset and began surrounding myself with people who care and love me, that’s where everything made a turn for the better.

Make gratitude a habit.

Empowerment can manifest in the things and the people who make you happy. Recognize them by making gratitude a habit. We frequently fill our heads with worry and doubts and overwhelm ourselves because of the uncertainty. These limiting thoughts and habits serve as a block to gaining confidence and empowerment. Instead of worrying about what you still don’t know, focus instead on the good things you have in the present.

Write down what you’re grateful for each day in your journal before you go to sleep so that when you wake up, gratitude continues to stay within you.  Once you’ve filled up your journal, you’ll realize how truly blessed and gifted you are!

Continue attracting the good around you.

The tips above will help you in your empowerment journey, attract your desires, and manifest the reality you want for yourself and your loved ones. You have the potential to change various aspects of your life successfully. So learn to enjoy and bask in every step! Your small wins will definitely lead to something much bigger. Align your decisions to the change you want to see and free yourself from limiting beliefs by creating your vision of a life full of abundance, success, and happiness.
