How to Self Haven

Do you ever find yourself feeling down, overwhelmed, sad or stressed? If so, you are not alone! The wonderful thing is I have a phenomenal technique that I'm gifting you to help relieve and release emotional overwhelm.

The Event Havening technique can help you achieve deep relaxation and overcome anxiety, depression, trauma, extreme upset, panic attacks, shock, grief, anger, and fear.

What is Event Havening?

The Event Havening Technique utilizes touch, distraction, and eye movements to eliminate negative emotional responses to stressful experiences or memories. It is an alternative therapy modality that changes pathways in your brain to decrease your feelings of emotional distress.

Who Developed the Havening Technique?

A neuroscientist and Harvard graduate, Dr Ronald Ruden developed and co-created the Havening technique with his twin brother, Dr Steven Ruden, a certified hypnotist. They initially called it "Amygdala Repotentiation Therapy" and claimed it could create an internal haven for a person to process and escape the pain. Then, in 2010, Dr Ronald Ruden presented it in his book, "When the Past is Always Present."

Thanks to the efforts of the international author and celebrity hypnotist Paul McKenna, this psycho-sensory technique's healing potential substantially spread worldwide. He demonstrated how it's done on national TV and has written about it in his books. In addition, he has offered workshops, therapy sessions, and training worldwide.

How Does It Work?

Any sensory stimulus makes an impact on one's emotions. Havening techniques utilize extrasensory responses, especially touch. In this psycho-sensory approach, a simple touch becomes a therapeutic channel to produce change. It enters through the skin and generates particular brain waves, the Delta waves, which cause deep relaxation.

When timely activated, these delta waves eliminate the subconscious stressor. It alters the linked components of memories and the other aspects of the adverse Event experienced.

It disrupts the neural pathway and alters the brain chemicals and the biological structure of the brain.

When we do the Havening technique, it increases Serotonin – the 'happy hormone', decreases Cortisol, the 'stress hormone', and breaks the emotional connection to a negative trigger.

Simply put, since your brain does not process two different thoughts simultaneously, the Havening touch removes the trauma memory and stops activating the amygdala, the part of the brain that processes emotions.

Havening breaks the emotional connection to a negative trigger. It detaches you from an upsetting or traumatic memory. After going through the process, you get into a state of deep emotional and physical relaxation. It also keeps the painful memories from troubling you further. In one short session, you create a "haven" for yourself. Havening offers natural ways to deal with stressful encounters and maladaptive responses.

Who Can Benefit from It?

Havening is a powerful relaxation technique that can help you if you have experienced emotional distress such as:

  • Phobias
